[Oh my god. This is priceless. She's never seen his footage either. God, if only he could find some of it. He could show her sometime. Prove how little Kralie's loss was much of a loss at all.]
His troubles began long before that tape. He was quite the filmmaker. Didn't you know?
Max reads the whole message again, and her confusion mounts.]
Okay, so... Alex was bad at making films. So what? What does that have to do with Tim? [She looks down, thinking: what might the right question be?]
It had something to do with the static, didn't it...? And that... thing that was on the tape. The one that caused the static. [Her expression brightens, feeling like she's come closer to a straight answer.] It gave Alex his static, too?
[Oh boy, but she's mad. Tim's snickering to himself on the other side of the mirror. He's got one last parting shot to make, though. One last shiv to the heart.]
Remember to look behind you. It always watches with no eyes.
[She just knows that if she turns to look he'll laugh at her. But still, the hairs on the back of her neck stand, and she feels goosebumps run down her arms.
She turns her head to look, trying to seem casual and unconcerned. But she can't help the small sigh when she sees nothing; though she feels silly more than anything else.
She grabs the edge of the cloth draped over the mirror, and with a quick tug fully covers the mirror again.]
[Ho ho ho! Max will find a playing card - the Queen of Hearts, of course - stuck to the door of her room with the following message scrawled on the back:]
[ Merry Christmas! Or late Christmas, because Dustin pretty much slept through it. After a rather jarringly loud fist-pounding knock on Max’s door, she’ll find a stocking left on the ground. If she's quick enough to answer she can probably recognize curls and a favourite hat turning the corner. The stocking is jammed full of things, including:
1. Air Heads (assorted flavours, but more watermelon because those are the best) 2. A small container with only banana flavoured runts 3. Gummy bears (sour and regular) 4. Bubble tape 5. Caramello 6. Nilla wafers 7. Chupa chups 8. Cow tales 9. Gummy cola 10. Nerds 11. Skittles 12. Sour patch kids 13. Fun Dip 14. Pop Rocks
[After that sweet present, Stefan had to return the favor. Outside of Max's door, he leaves a wrapped present, tied up with a bow. Upon opening it, she'll find a bunch of filtered lenses for one of her her vintage cameras. He's also included more than enough film for her to fiddle around with it.
He's also attached a note -]
Merry Christmax to you too! Thanks for the book - I'm sure it'll be an entertaining read. ~ Stefan
[Whenever Max returns to her room on the 25th, she'll find a box of camera straps with her name sewed into them. On the box is taped a glamour shot of Mettaton's face, and on the back of said shot is a note:
Dear Max,
I hope these straps serve you well! A talent like yours shouldn't be worried about potentially dropping your camera and breaking it. Nor should it ever go unrecognized! A personal touch is what you give to the world, and a personal touch is what you should get right back! I hope we chat again soon and you know I am always open to any and all photo shoots you may wish to hold as the Official MTT-Brand Photographer! ;)
Love, your favorite star,
-MTT]
I forgot this was still a thing, so have the solution!
[That- that's pretty fucking sweet. It's awkward because she can't believe someone took the time to study and paint her face, and she wonders how annoying that might've been- but it looks ridiculously beautiful and...
And she honestly didn't think she could look that pretty.
It feels like a vain thought and it makes her blush in embarrassment even though she's alone. The painting gets hung up on the inside of her closet door- so that she sees it everyday, but no one else ever does.
Later on, when she doesn't feel as shy about it, she sends a text to Elizabeth.]
[It's hard to ignore Mirror Max's messages all over the mansion's mirrors. Mettaton may have never formally met Chloe, but he knew Max enough to know that losing her girlfriend must have been a terrible blow. So he goes looking for her. After all, what kind of star would he be if he didn't at least extend a hand in comfort to his official photographer?
It takes a bit of searching, but eventually he finds her in the gardens. He almost missed her from where she had stuffed herself into the maze so that no one could see her. He approaches slowly, giving Max a small wave.]
[She's facing the other way as he approaches, sitting on a random tree root (sitting in random spots is somethibg she tends to do) with her chin resting on her hands. His voice startles her, her shoulders jerking up in surprise before she rounds on him.
Seriously. You go to the maze and sit in a quiet corner because you obviously want to be left alone, right?
The annoyance doesn't show on her expression. She only grips the strap of her bag a little tightly. But it's fairly obvious she'd just been crying, even as she lowers her head to try and hide her eyes. Her voice is a little high.]
[The robot gets a good look at her and feels his heart strings tugged. The poor girl has been crying, and who can blame her? This reminds him of when Undyne left, and Alphys just curled herself up on her bedroom floor for a few hours as he hugged her. That probably won't happen here, but he's going to be as supportive as he can.]
Enjoying the gardens, hm? They are quite beautiful, even with all of the snow.
[Small talk, and lots of it. But he doesn't want to burst down the metaphorical door and push her to the defensive too soon.]
It's been awhile since we've spoken. What have you been up to?
