While on a logical level I understand her reasoning and have taken the approach of limiting my contact with others in order to preserve my own emotional states since I was young, I don't think it's a healthy approach for Angela. She isn't like me. She cares deeply, loves with her whole heart, wants the best for the world. Seeing this place take that from her has been difficult.
But I believe she is capable of making her own decisions, even if I don't think they are the best for her.
